Hiking.

Haleakala National Park, Maui, Hawaii. This is one of the few hikes that I've done where I was literally above the clouds. The islands are volcanic which provides for some almost 'lunar' landscapes, just with more color.
Bryce National Park, Utah. Hiking through the hoodoos is not to be missed. The colors here are rich and the structures are breathtaking.
Engineer Pass near Ouray, Colorado. One of my summer interests includes 4-wheeling. Having a vehicle that can take you off the beaten path allows you to see scenery most mortals only see in books.
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. Iconic. The views here are so sweeping, it's almost an insult to think any photograph can capture the grandeur.
Black Canyon of the Gunnision National Park, Colorado. There's a hike on the north side of the park that takes you to Exclamation Point, pictured here. Because the canyon is so long, the drive around to the north side is two to three hours.
The town of Crested Butte as seen from the top of Mount Crested Butte. We've hiked this peak several times. It's somewhat grueling, but well worth it. Crested Butte is our favorite Colorado mountain town.
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. We saw the total eclipse of 2017 here near the Static Peak Divide. The hike to the divide took four hours, but it delivered a spectacular environment to watch the eclipse.
The coast of Maui, Hawaii. We stopped here on the way to The Road to Hana. This part of the coast was very rugged, and the waves were huge.
